At our Annual General Meeting on 29 October we discussed the potential implications of the huge increase in Guildford Borough's housing target should the proposals featuring in the Government's recent consultation on the National Planning Policy Framework be adopted. In its Election Manifesto the Labour Party announced its commitment to “Planning reform to build 1.5 million new homes” by, among other things, reforming the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which serves as the rule book for Local Planning Authorities (LPAs), such as Guildford Borough Council (GBC). On 30 July the Labour Government launched a public consultation on an amended NPPF, which runs until 24 September.

On 18 April, following numerous representations from members of the public, Normandy Parish Council, and Normandy's Borough Councillors, Guildford Borough Council (GBC) officers acting under their delegated powers issued an Article 4 Direction regarding the agricultural land lying to the west of Bailes Lane, Normandy, GU3 2BA.
