A new network of grassroots organisations has been formed to lobby for improvements to the planning system and provide mutual support for individual campaigns.

At a time when central government appears to be wanting to weaken the ability of local planning authorities to control inappropriate development through revisions to the system of Permitted Development Rights (see for example this article from the Guildford Society; also our earlier post about proposed changes to Article 4 Directions) it is important that local groups such as ours are able to join forces with like-minded colleagues across the country to maximise our impact. NAG has been following the development of theĀ Community Planning Alliance (CPA) since the idea first took shape, and if you click on the interactive map on their website you will see that our details are included, along with those of 400 other groups. We shall post further updates as the CPA takes root.
