Despite the existence of Enforcement and Stop Notices, issued in September 2020 by Guildford Borough Council (GBC) great damage continues to be done to the Area of Great Landscape Value (AGLV) at Wanborough Fields.

Things came to a head on Saturday, 20 March, when large quantities of rubble and other waste were deposited in the field off Westwood Lane and a large JCB created further areas of hard standing. Subsequently a fire was lit in a builders' skip, emitting clouds of possibly toxic smoke.

Local residents were outraged and with the support of Borough Councillors David Bilbe and Tony Rooth and also County Councillor Keith Witham have managed to secure a promise from GBC that they will now produce a new action plan incorporating tougher measures to deter people who flout the planning regulations.
