On 17th July Guildford Borough Council’s Executive Committee will vote on a recommendation to confirm the Wanborough Fields Article 4 Direction. The meeting, at 7pm in the council chamber, Millmead, is open to the public as observers.

All the signs are that the executive will confirm, in which case the Article 4 will remain in force indefinitely. If they don’t confirm, it will be terminated.

Letters and emails written by residents to John Armstrong in support of confirmation have been, no doubt, a major factor in the report recommending confirmation. There was a large number of submissions in favour and just one against—from Vantage Land, that purchased and is now selling the plots on the Fields.

There are a number of pending planning and enforcement issues contingent on the Article 4 Direction being confirmed. These include fencing that has already been installed that needs planning permission, hedge planting activity that has been reported to GBC Enforcement and an appeal by one plot occupier against GBC refusal for change of use from agricultural to equestrian.
