Normandy residents might be able to breathe a sigh of relief as the Surrey County Council site assessment methodology rejects the site at Strawberry Farm, Glaziers Lane and the site at Chapel Farm, Guildford Road for further development at the second screening stage in the Surrey County Council Minerals and Waste Planning Policy, Surrey Waste Local Plan, Site Identification & Evaluation Report, November 2017.

In the document Appendix C to the Environmental & Sustainability Report, Preliminary Draft, Assessment & Appraisal of the Potential Sites for the Surrey, Waste Local Plan 2018-2033, Part C-4: Sites in Guildford the impact of further development across all types of waste facility revealed significant constraints at Strawberry Farm of adverse and/or significant impact on atmosphere (emissions to air), water environment (Flood Risk 1 zone, contamination of water bodies), natural environment and human communities (within 250 metres of residential properties), pollution and nuisance (up to 140 HGV vehicle movements per day) and at Chapel Farm, similar assessment for atmosphere and human communities (within 20 metres of residential properties), contamination of water bodies impacts.
