Normandy and Flexford residents joined the last minute rush to submit their comments before the consultation period ended at 11.59 pm., Monday 18 July 2016. Normandy Action Group submitted its  22 page critique along with an 8 page addendum that challenged the Habitats Regulations Assessment that covers the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area [TBHSPA].

Residents had been working tirelessly in the background with Freedom of Information [FoI] requests to both Surrey Councty Council [SCC] and Guildford Borough Council [GBC] in pursuit of the background to the proposal to include a large secondary school within the site known as "Policy A46, Land between Normandy and Flexford".

Others, concerned with the impact on our local wildlife, worked through the auspices of Friends of Normandy Wildlife who submitted and excoriating expose of the complete disregard for wildlife and environment shown by GBC in the proposals for our community. Attention was drawn to the large number of listed building surrounding the land.

The message was clear, "hands off our Green Belt", there are no proven "exceptional circumstances" that would enable the land to be removed from the Green Belt.
